Release: It's Not Just For Breath Anymore

Arguably the most important component of the breathing cycle is the release. We inhale, we exhale (use the air), and then we release so that the cycle can begin anew. An insufficient release makes for tension in the inhalation, an issue that compounds breath upon breath.

This information is not news to skilled voice users.

It did escape my notice how release applies to other areas of life. Last week, I crashed through an inappropriately scheduled week that led to overwork, an actual fall, and pulled me pretty thin. I was rewarded by an EPIC cold which has had me in bed for days now.

So the blog has gone untended, there is work undone, and my house is a mess because Release must happen. You can plan for it and make it a regular, important part of the routine or you can watch it explode in unexpected and unwanted directions. So I am staying in bed, the fever will pass, and the work routine will resume. I’m also remembering to respect Release, again. I hope to remind you to as well.
