Observe: Voicing during illness

I have a virus. It has been camping in my throat like it owns the place for well over a week. Since it isn’t casually contagious at this point (I checked), I’ve been going about my business. Teaching, speaking, practicing, and singing my scheduled gigs.

I am doing all the things I can to help speed up healing but my most important tool right now is, awareness. Observing what is possible and respecting the acts of recovery and release as much as I do effort and action. Making sure breath is a caress of constant support and putting power on standby. Importantly for me, watching for any sign that complete rest is necessary. Thankfully, I know awareness works. My voice and I, we’ve been here before. We trust one another.

These bodies, they are capable of extraordinary things. Observe yours.
