Office Space: Change Is In The Air

Here in the Northeast, Spring has arrived. With it, more people are being vaccinated against COVID19 and many organizations are looking to what is next. It is a hopeful time. It is also one where the surge towards the future might outpace preparation.

Here are some thoughts on how to step into the future with more clarity.

  1. Make sure you are oxygenated. Seriously, beyond survival levels. This means moving more and getting yourself outside.
  2. While you are at it, hydrate. The body just works better overall when we are at better than baseline hydration.
  3. Ask leading questions. Whether you are planning for yourself or your organization it is often useful to open an inquiry as you contemplate change. This inquiry should be positive and affirming. That is, you should focus on what you want rather than what you don’t.
  4. Make space to think. Let your mind wander, take slower breaths, allow for silence. We think better in the pauses.
  5. Let your intention precede your words. This one is important. Be clear on what you are hoping to achieve before you start to speak. With the exception of a brainstorming session, you really do need to know what you want before you can speak to it.
  6. Sing something. No need for an audience, but singing is an efficient way to oxygenate, normalize your cortisol levels, and open your mind to more efficient thought.

The invitation today is to open up the house (your body) and do some Spring cleaning. Change is in the air. Are you ready?
