Articulate: Clear as Mud

What if you chose the clearest path to what you need to say? Without reaching for a metaphor or imagery of any type. What if you didn’t try to make it funny, or deflect it?

Communication is funny in this way. We want to say something, but we avoid just saying it. Perhaps this is because we believe someone will be offended or take it the wrong way. Or maybe, we feel uncertain about what we saying. Whatever the reason, clarity is still the best option.

You can be clear and be kind. You can be clear and be measured. You can even be clear and funny, creative, or evocative. Clarity is about making sure that your intention is not buried in your delivery.

Ultimately, you only need three things. To know your audience, understand your intention, and deliver your message in alignment with your whole self.
