Acquire: Resonance
Resonance: the quality in a sound of being deep, full, and reverberating.
Resonance can seem like an abstraction. What does it mean that a voice is deep, full, and reverberating? And, how do you acquire these attributes?
Resonance is about the application of air, energy, and vibration in a way that enhances the voice. You can start to train resonance by increasing your sensory knowledge of vibration — Using Hums, Buzzes, and Lip Trills to increase your sensory perception, working on how well you are managing and using air, and connecting neurological intention to these physical attributes.
Training resonance can seem daunting if you don’t have a natural receptivity to it. Still, it is important to note that resonance is not magical, it can be learned especially when you give yourself permission to play with vocal sensation.
