Disrupt: Not in Kansas Anymore

I am an Introvert. Unambiguously, deeply, an Introvert.

This can be confusing to some because I also chose a profession that positioned me in the public eye. What you see when you see me engaged in a group or moving through a crowd with ease is a gift from my singing life. I create a character who is like me but has vastly more capacity for social situations. I also work hard to really see the individuals in the crowd so that the crowd becomes less menacing.

Why the introspection? You might have noted that I am at a Speakers Convention. There is a lot going on and it is challenging. There is so much information, so many dynamic people to meet, and speakers to hear -- It is hard to absorb it all. It is incredibly hard to maintain the veneer of extroversion. So I'm allowing disruption in my construct.

Disruption is necessary for growth. It is necessary for the acquisition of new skills. It is necessary for the voice to find its truth. I know I say this often but, the voice will not lie. It will reveal, always. So I know that while I may feel unmoored today, my voice is true. What are you disrupting today?
