Observe: Sitz

We spend a lot of time sitting down. Unarguably too much time.

Since we do it so often, we really should consider the body's alignment in the sitting position.

Did you know that our pelvis provides a fabulous pair of sitting bones? The Ischial Tuberosity aligns our pelvis as we sit so that the there is an even distribution of pressure and we don't create problems for circulation and nerve function. In other words, sitting evenly upon them helps one stay connected to the lower extremities.

The muscles connecting the legs to the torso also connect directly to the breathing mechanism. Which means focusing on how you sit isn't an extra step, it is crucial for maintaining effective breathing.

Today, consider how you are sitting and observe how hard it is to actually slouch when you are balanced on your Sitz Bones.
