Office Space: Something In The Air

October 26, 2020
5 min read

Whether it is the crisp morning chill, or an impending, contentious election there is something in the air right now.

Many of you are leaping forward in an attempt to do something productive. And others, are retreating into a "wait and see" stance. Some of you are gearing up for a fight. These tendencies are apparent in our conversations as well.

As much as we enjoy the illusion of our ability to be completely professional at work, it doesn't seem to pan out. Our inner landscape will always affect how our voice enters the room, even if we have everything else on lock. This doesn't mean that we have to give up on presenting ourselves professionally. It just means that we have to acknowledge our own humanity and that of the people around us.

The invitation today is to show yourself kindness as you navigate whatever your mental state is right now. To observe and acknowledge your actual feelings so that you can accommodate and compensate for them in your interactions with others. Also helpful, acknowledge that others may be struggling as well. A little grace goes a long way,

ps: Keep Breathing.
