Perform: Corraggio

Corraggio is the Italian word for bravery, or nerve. I like the meaning inherent in this word especially given my operatic roots. It is, for me, a more nuanced way of seeing what we do when we engage fully with our voices.

This week in the blog has been about navigating anxiety, and the scripts it creates while moving towards better communication. The last piece here is that changing the routine you live in is hard. You will find a well of resistance to the status quo coming from yourself. To which I will offer this wisdom attributed to Thomas Jefferson.

"If you want something you've never had, you must be willing to do something you've never done."

So today, take a breath and lead with intention. Speak up in that meeting, craft and share that idea, greet the big boss without awkwardness (they are just as human as you are after all). Use your breath, your voice, your will to show up in the spaces you inhabit. Do it even as your charge makes you shake or want to vomit. Breathe and vibrate the air around you with your presence. You can do it. Corraggio.
