Variance: Proprioception

Proprioception is the awareness of the position and movement of the body. It is how your brain knows where your head is in relation to your spine and where your feet are. It's pretty important.

Movement through and pressure on the heel of your foot tells your brain where that foot and potentially the leg are. The engagement and articulation of the upper back give your brain information on the position of your head and neck. In other words, when you are using your body in an engaged matter, proprioception is at work.

Today, observe if your feet are fully engaged with the ground -- especially while seated. Whether your sitz bones are in contact with your seat? Are your shoulder blades engaged? Is your chest expanded or collapsed?

Physical self-awareness leads not only to better breath and communication. It also leads to better physical and mental health.
