Acquire: (Act)ion

The voice is a tattle-tale so how do we navigate life without broadcasting our personal business. For that, we need to reach a little deeper and dip a toe into the craft of the Actor.

Actors train to make set characters and circumstances arise with spontaneity and authentic emotion. It is a fairly involved process but we can borrow from it two things -- intention, and presence.

Intention is knowing what you want the outcomes to be as well as how you wish to be seen in the process.

Presence is how much energetic capital you are willing to spend to connect. That is how much air you use to make the soundwave that is your voice. How much of yourself you allow to be present with the listener(s). And, how well-prepared you feel to complete the task-at-hand.

This isn't acting really so it shouldn't feel as if you are faking anything (neither should good acting but I digress). It is a process that can help you direct the perception and actions in the room.
