Office Space: Mistakes Were Made

Sometimes your best-laid plans don't pan out. Messages can be unclear, or just incorrect. You may fail to influence those you need to influence. You can cause harm. These communications can range from mildly disappointing to catastrophic.

Apologize where that is needed. Rephrase and clarify where there is confusion. Revisit and build understanding where trust has faltered. Listen carefully for what might help. Then, let go of what cannot be retrieved.

This last step is crucial: Forgive yourself and move on. You can only drive so far looking in the rearview.
